Duties

Could you be our next Head of Workplace Relations?

McDonald’s Australia are on the lookout for its next Head of Workplace Relations to spearhead and shape the workplace and industrial relations strategies for the largest QSR organisation in Australia. In this role, you will be a practical subject matter expert on all things employment law and regulatory compliance.

We are looking for a proven leader who can deliver best-practice compliance solutions, manage complex industrial relations reviews and implementation, and IR simplification for our McDonald’s restaurants nationally - with the support of a team of passionate workplace relations experts.  

 

What can you expect on a day-to-day basis?

  • Lead the development of industry-leading policies and procedures to comply with McDonald’s restaurant-facing employment obligations.
  • Provide expert WR & IR advice to McDonald’s People Leaders.
  • Lead the Workplace Relations Team
  • Act as the key escalation point for all significant workplace matters in McDonald’s Restaurants.
  • Collaborate with the legal counsel on complex case management, investigations, and matters in Courts and Tribunals (advocacy experience highly regarded)
  • Deliver employee relations best-practice presentations to a variety of audiences including Senior Leadership and Licensees.

Qualifications

Your keys to success:

  • Highly experienced in Workplace and Industrial Relations with a strong understanding of current and historical employment law.
  • Demonstratable project management and cross-functional excellence to implement compliance solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in liaising with employer associations, government representatives and union representatives across full spectrum of workplace and industrial relations matters (fast food exposure advantageous, but not essential).
  • Demonstrated experience in advocacy and preparing submissions - involvement in Fair Work Commission (FWC) matters, FWC reviews and briefing legal counsel.
  • An experienced investigator who is familiar with the principles of conducting accurate and fair investigations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to lead a Team with integrity and curiosity - paired with the ability to challenge the status-quo in a respectful way and driven by achieving shared success.
